Project: Missouri History Museum – Coloring St. Louis

For Coloring St. Louis, the Missouri History Museum partnered with Novachrome to create a new kind of visitor experience: a fully interactive exhibit where guests of all ages could color directly on the walls.
Featuring illustrations of historic homes, landmarks, and neighborhood scenes by local artist Rori!, the 6,000-square-foot exhibit blended education and creativity to celebrate the city’s architectural history. To support the concept, Novachrome proposed using DreamScape wallcovering with a dry-erase finish.
About a year before the exhibit opened, the museum began testing various dry-erase coatings on printed wallcovering panels installed in a public space. After six months of real-world use and visitor feedback, the Novachrome and Missouri History Museum team analyzed the results from test panels, and identified DreamScape as the most effective and durable option.
When the full exhibit launched, DreamScape Mystical texture was installed along the perimeter walls, offering a cleanable, writable surface that held up to daily use throughout the exhibit’s run.
